OPEN ART ROUTE
The work of Ellen Harmsma is guided by her fascination for anatomical forms. This fascination forms the basis for her drawings, paintings, wood sculptures and interior objects. Her love for the human body, its muscles and bones and their relationship, return in her wood sculptures due to which seemingly new bodies appear. The organic line is the starting point and the structure is adapted to the sculpted shape. In her furniture-like interior objects anatomy also plays a prominent role. A sketch of an organic form that naturally arose on paper forms the basis for these objects. This movement and the creation of the drawing hand finds its origin in watching, studying and admiring the anatomy of the body.
