Nina Karim van Oort is in the final year of her Documentary Directing studies at the Dutch Film Academy. As a starting documentary filmmaker she is looking for intimate personal stories. The themes for her work stem from reality versus individual perception, and special relationships between people. A central question in her work therefore is how we relate to ourselves and to those around us. Her aim is to create films that make small stories big and elevate the ordinary into something magical.
During the OPEN ART ROUTE she will show The Carpenter; a film about the collaboration between artisan contractor Fred Mensink and his autistic employee Stefan. Two men who have more in common than you might think at first glance.
