Large-scale installation in an empty office building by visual artist Charl Landvreugd. The installation is based on the Tembe (traditional wood carving and painting work of the Maroons in Suriname). A sensory experience in which visitors’ senses are stimulated and nourished.
The presentation as a whole is a layered self-portrait of Landvreugd in which he looks back critically at his process of becoming an artist and reflects on where he is now. The size of the work is 25 meters wide by 15 meters long and almost 5 meters high. The visitors see a labyrinth in which they can get lost. The Tembe is a monumental work that at the same time is the carrier of other (existing and new) work by the artist. This makes Movt. No. 10: Ososma an artwork and exhibition in one. In terms of content, it provides a context for the fixed theme from Landvreugd’s work: a reflection on the cultural hybridity that is so characteristic of our time.
Ososma is the first in a series of solo exhibitions that CBK Zuidoost programs on location and is open during the Open Art Route from 12.00 – 19.00.
Location: Hullenbergweg 1
